Remel Insights is recruiting Research Assistants to support a qualitative study in the area of Sexual and Reproductive Health
The study seeks to understand the experiences of women with disabilities in accessing SRH information and services, including barriers, facilitators, experiences with healthcare providers, and factors influencing access to appropriate and inclusive SRH services.
Research Assistants will:
- Support participant recruitment and engagement in selected study locations.
- Conduct in-depth interviews (IDIs) and/or facilitate focus group discussions (FGDs) as assigned.
- Conduct interviews sensitively, particularly when discussing personal and potentially sensitive SRH experiences.
- Accurately document and audio-record interviews where consent has been provided.
- Support transcription and translation of qualitative interviews where required.
- Participate in field debriefings and daily data-quality checks.
- Support preliminary coding and thematic analysis of qualitative data.
- Prepare fieldwork reports and provide regular updates to the study team.
- Adhere strictly to research ethics, safeguarding procedures and the approved study protocol.
Applicants should have:
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Population and Health, Public Health, Social Sciences, Sociology, Psychology, Development Studies, Population Studies, Nursing, Midwifery, or a related discipline.
- Experience conducting in-depth interviews, focus group discussions or other qualitative interviews.
- Knowledge of research ethics, informed consent and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage respectfully and sensitively with women with disabilities.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document research information.
- Fluency in Ewe and English languages. Fluency in French is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a research team.
This opportunity provides Research Assistants with practical experience contributing to research addressing health equity, disability inclusion and access to sexual and reproductive health services in Ghana.
